Mains disconnect devices

Mains disconnect devices (automatic mains disconnect switches) are often one of the most effective and at the same time cost-efficient measures in a home environment when dealing with electrosmog exposure caused by low-frequency electric alternating fields. They are installed in the fuse box and automatically switch the downstream wiring de-energized when no power is needed—so electric fields from live wiring cannot arise in the first place. In building biology, this solution is considered a clear recommendation.

Gigahertz Solutions relies on multiple patented circuit designs that provide a decisive advancement compared to many commonly available “mains disconnect switches” or “field disconnect switches”.

The key benefits of our mains disconnect devices

  • Guaranteed minimal residual ripple (crucial from a building biology perspective).
  • VDE mark for tested safety (NA series).
  • Simple, cost-effective installation thanks to innovative circuit technology.
  • High user comfort even with “difficult” loads.
  • Includes a system control indicator for functional monitoring and a mains filter against dirty power.
  • Surge protection for the circuit as a beneficial side effect (metal-oxide varistor).

Which mains disconnect device variant fits your circuit?

Depending on your electrical installation, connected loads and the level of comfort you want, different device variants are available. The following overview helps with a first preselection—details can be found in the product data and documents.

  • NA5 Comfort: VDE-certified, cost-effective 16 A model. Features include residual ripple < 8 mV, incl. mains filter and control indicator.
  • NA7 Comfort: Automatically switches the mains voltage only for as long as it is needed (e.g., a bedside lamp). Compared to NA5, it offers, among other things, even lower residual ripple < 4 mV and LED-supported functional diagnostics; incl. mains filter and control indicator.
  • NA8 Comfort: In addition to the NA7 functions, it provides manually adjustable on/off thresholds (special cases) and more DC current to compensate leakage currents or for larger neon indicators; incl. mains filter and control indicator.
  • Ultima 8 (U8): Reliably disconnects even standby devices or “primary-side power supplies” (up to 100 W disconnectable apparent power). Very low monitoring voltage (230 mV) and adjustment options—however, with more installation effort and requiring more attention in operation. Scope of delivery includes, among other items, a system control indicator and a base-load element.

Matching accessories for installation & operation

For functional monitoring and practical extensions, you’ll find compatible components in the accessories category: mains disconnect accessories.
