5G radiation at 3.5 GHz can influence the biomechanics of bones and muscles in diabetics

Biophysicists from the Medical School of Van Yuzuncu Yil University were able to show this alarming result. It was previously known that high-frequency electromagnetic fields affect bone metabolism and muscle tissue, but the exact effects were still unclear.

Study structure

In the new study by Bektas et al., the effects of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) on bone biomechanics and skeletal muscle tissue were investigated in diabetic and healthy rats. For this purpose, the animals were exposed to a 5G frequency of 3.5 Ghz for 2 hours per day over a period of 30 days.  Measurements of bone biomechanics were taken to assess the effects of this radiation on bone quality, flexibility and strength. The researchers evaluated diabetic rats and healthy rats against corresponding control groups.

Exposure was conducted to achieve a specific absorption rate (SAR) of 37 mW/kg. In comparison, the specific absorption rate of a mobile phone must not exceed 2 watts per kilogram - this value was thus undercut in the study by a factor of almost 50.
The effects of the high-frequency electromagnetic radiation were examined radiologically, molecularly and by means of the 3PB test. These results were compared with the results of the animals from the respective control groups that had not been exposed to radiation.

Study results

The study clearly shows that EMF has effects on both healthy and diabetic animals and that these effects are significant in both groups compared to the control group. However, significantly stronger effects were observed in the diabetic group than in healthy animals.
The results show that regular exposure to EMF at 3.5 GHz causes reduced bone strength and that it is precisely this radiation that exacerbates diabetes-induced bone damage. The study shows that bones are more poorly mineralised by exposure to 5G. These results support the hypothesis that radiofrequency EMF can reduce bone mineral density and subsequently lead to so-called bone loss.

Diabetic rats may be more susceptible to the dangerous effects of radiofrequency EMF. This observation may be related to significant changes in oxidative stress parameters observed in the group of diseased animals.  Overall, the observations suggest that exposure to 3.5 GHz may compromise bone quality and structural integrity, as well as affect oxidative stress parameters in the muscles of rats.

Conclusion

Even at irradiation levels well below the current limits for specific absorption rate, researchers have observed significant effects of 5G radiation at a frequency of 3.5 Ghz on the biomechanics of bones and muscles - especially in diabetics.
